ATLANTA—SECO International has announced that SECO the educational conference providing ophthalmic professionals outstanding educational opportunities since 1924, has partnered with the American Society of Optometric Surgeons (ASOS) to bring hands-on demonstrations showing radiosurgical technology, Botox, and YAG laser education to the show floor. The upcoming SECO conference is set for Feb. 20 to 24, 2019 in New Orleans. “SECO is continually looking for opportunities to support the growth and education of ophthalmic professionals,” said Emilio Balius, OD, president of SECO International, LLC.

“By collaborating with ASOS, SECO is able to provide a one-of-a-kind hands-on experience with advance practice procedures like radiosurgical technology, Botox, and YAG laser training. These procedures give optometrists specific and practical resources to expand and build their practices.”

The newly formed organization, ASOS, provides educational resources, a forum to promote collaboration, professional discourse and development among optometric physicians and educators to ensure excellence in patient care with regards to optometric oculofacial surgical and ophthalmic laser procedures.

“As ASOS works to deliver on our mission of facilitating education and collaboration, we could not think of a better partner than SECO to achieve these goals,” said Richard Castillo, OD, DO. “SECO is known for providing the optometry profession with leading edge education in service of professional development, elevated patient care and office management. We could not be happier with our alliance with SECO. By introducing optometric oculofacial surgical and ophthalmic laser procedures to this community, we position them to expand their patient services and care offerings.”

Hands-on ASOS interactions will provide a unique learning venue for SECO attendees. Located squarely within the Optometry Marketplace, eyecare professionals will be able to continue their SECO learning experience on the show floor. These demonstrations will enhance the already robust SECO continuing education line up of more than 250 education sessions over the course of the five days—with the opportunity to earn up to 20 contact hours over the weekend alone.
