Vision Source Names Michael Marcroft as VP of Marketing, Succeeding Randy Sones

He joins the network’s senior leadership team as of today (Monday, Dec.10) and will replace Randy Sones, who is currently vice president of marketing. Sones is retiring after a 27-year working history with Vision Source, according to an announcement. Marcroft will be responsible for the organization’s overall marketing strategies, initiatives and communications.

Safilo Appoints Andrea Bulgarelli as New Digital Transformation Director

University of Arizona College of Optical Sciences Receives $20 Million Gift

The gift comes from the college's founding dean, professor emeritus James C. Wyant, and his family. It is the largest gift for endowed faculty chair positions in the university's history. CORE Appoints Dr. William Ngo as Head of Biosciences

Dr. Ngo is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry and will join CORE in early 2019. CORE, formerly known as the Centre for Contact Lens Research, was established in 1988 at the University of Waterloo’s School of Optometry & Vision Science, and took on the new name a year ago. “I had the good fortune of directing Dr. Ngo as he undertook his PhD at the University of Waterloo, and witnessed firsthand his innate intelligence, natural curiosity and ability to build strong relationships with collaborators internally and externally,” CORE director Lyndon Jones, PhD, DSc, FCOptom, FAAO, FBCLA, said in the announcement late last week.
