Animaps extends the My Maps feature of Google Maps by letting you create maps with markers that move, images and text that pop up on cue, and lines and shapes that change over time. When you send an Animap to friends or colleagues it appears like a video—they can play, pause, slow and speed up the action. The site is loaded with examples and simple tutorials that show you how to create and add new dimension and dynamics to maps or illustrations. A very cool
Showcase tool illustrates some of the possibilities. You can highlight large dimensions of maps or zoom in and add interest with motion or subgroups of images and features to convey the character of a location or a town or illustrate larger development. The service is free and users can register via Facebook or directly with the site. A blog and forum enables users to share ideas and Animaps.
