Alcon has launched
DROPS101 Web Tools, a new mobile website that takes the interaction between patients and health care providers into the digital age by providing a robust one-stop, educational resource about commonly prescribed eye and ear treatments. Alcon is launching DROPS101 Web Tools in response to the growing demand for digital access to patient-centered materials, the company said, enabling health care professionals to facilitate an in-depth dialogue and educate patients. With a user-friendly platform, DROPS101 Web Tools offer digital access to valuable product information related to the treatment of two extremely common child ailments: CIPRODEX Otic (ciprofloxacin 0.3% and dexamethasone 0.1%), for the treatment of acute otitis externa (AOE) and acute otitis media in pediatric patients with tymponostomy tubes, and MOXEZA Solution, (moxifloxacin HCI ophthalmic solution) 0.5%, for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains.
In addition to offering a practical method for accessing information, DROPS101 Web Tools features patient-managed customization tools, including: on-the-spot prescription savings information eligible patients can take to the pharmacy counter with a flash of a smartphone or tablet; dosing instructions and games to help occupy and reward children during or after drop administration, and options for patients to share tools with friends through popular social networks including Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest.
Pediatricians, pharmacists, nurses and ear, nose, throat doctors alike can share this resource with patients to supplement dialogue around medication information via mobile devices, including smartphones, tablets and laptop computers. "We heard from doctors that patients need a one-click resource for prescribed eye and ear treatments. DROPS101 is another way we are expanding our commitment to meet the ever evolving needs of health care professionals and their patients," said Amy Patyk, multi-channel marketing manager, Alcon U.S. "By offering mobile access to educational tools, health care professionals can help their patients learn more about medication options and treatment support with the convenience of wireless technology." DROPS101 Web Tools are available in the U.S. only.
