NEW YORK—As the digital revolution has transformed so many aspects of people's personal and cultural lives, Google's year-end special report, the
Zeitgeist Report is a multi-dimensional resource which is worth spending some time to explore.
It can help us tell what were the most-searched for topics, subjects, terms, people and the most-commented-upon news, trends, developments of the year.
Searchable for Global trends as well as U.S.-only trends (as well as multiple country-specific info), the Zeitgeist report is highlighted in a
video, too.
The popular terms and searches shed light on what's on people's minds, their concerns, priorities and common threads among them.
The report, full of interesting possibilities, features Top Charts in a big range of categories, including, for example, reviews of the Top Apparel and Retail Brands Searched. The Explore function provides insights for search terms as well. For example,
"eyecare" as a global search term is on the rise for another year in 2013, while
"eyeglasses" as a search term is relatively steady compared to 2004, for example.
