Mykita Unveils Maison Martin Margiela Collection
Quick Take: Mykita has introduced the worldwide release of the Mykita + Maison Martin Margiela collection.
Wearer: According to the two companies, Mykita and Maison Martin Margiela are kindred creative minds and are very excited about establishing a radical, new eyewear collection together that reflects the synergies of both houses.
Specifics: The collection is comprised of stainless steel frames coated in a thick, transparent powder to seal them that are inspired by historical shapes of the last century. These frames are monochromatic with matching lenses available in six unisex styles and four colorways each. Additionally, there are two pairs of acetate frames that almost have the appearance of a frame within a frame done in tone-on-tone or with contrasting color schemes. The acetate frames are offered in four unisex styles with five colorways each.
Selling Points: Maison Martin Margiela is a French fashion house which presents Haute Couture and ready-to-wear collections, as well as leather goods, footwear, accessories, fragrances, interior design and furniture. The brand first became involved in eyewear in 2009 and has chosen Mykita to take the next step by creating an even more distinctive and complete optical range.

Eye Q Eyewear Launches Buxton Women’s Collection
Quick Take: Eye Q Eyewear has announced the launch of the Buxton women’s eyewear collection.
Wearer: We feel found a void in the value segment of the marketplace for tasteful frames for sophisticated, fashion conscious women,” said Jeff Frumkin, CEO of Eye Q. “The Buxton collection has been designed to satisfy the needs of multi-focal wearers, aged 40-65.”
Specifics: Following the success of the classic Buxton men’s collection, Eye Q created a unique women’s line that is constructed with the same high quality acetate, Monel and stainless steel, the company said. The initial launch collection includes seven pieces, three in metal and four in acetate.
Selling Points: Eye Q’s design team worked closely with licensor Buxton, a leather goods and accessories designer, to create styles that incorporate the stone embellishments, metal trim, jewel tones and unique textures that characterize the brand’s handbag and accessory line.

Marchon Debuts the Chloe Spring 2014 Collection
Quick Take: The Chloe Spring 2014 collection from Marchon is comprised of styles featuring intricate detailing and subtle elegance.
Specifics: Four new ophthalmic styles and six new suns.
Selling Points: Several interpretations of the ‘C’ logo appear throughout the collection, enhancing the feminine shapes. Mini metal studs and adornments embellish frame fronts while metal bars and logo plaques enrich temples. Inspired by the handbag collection, buckle details are also prominent in this collection. In optical, the CE2114 features injected plastic layered over a metal frame front in a pillow-shape; the CE2631 is a chic cat eye adorned by an exclusive motif of four mini studs on the front with combo temples; and the CE2633 is a geek chic frame also adorned by four mini studs on the front with straight temples. Lastly, the CE2634 is a zyl cat eye frame decorated with mini metal studs on the upper front and end piece areas. For sun, the CE111S Cypress style is a classic aviator with combo temple featuring metal cutouts; while the CE112S Cypress style has round wire-rimmed lenses with the same temple. The CE634S Alexi frame is a retro-inspired round injected frame with a metal bar detail hugging frame front sides; correspondingly, the CE635S Alexi frame is done in a feminine injected butterfly-shaped. The CE650S Currant style is a glamorous injected butterfly frame featuring a temple cutout with metal details at the endpieces. Last up is the CE653S New Erine style, a glam and girly frame with a layered frame front featuring mini studs in the corners and a scallop detail underneath the lenses.

DeRigo Vision Releases Police 2014 Sun Collection
Quick Take: Celebrating 30 years in 2013, Police concluded its anniversary year with a new sun collection inspired by the brands icons of the past for 2014.
Specifics: The new icons collection showcases new interpretations of old codes for a truly timeless yet modern range, evocative of signature styles from Police’s 30 year reign, with four new sun styles.
Selling Points: Revisiting the classic eighties style, the S1861 is a tribute to the skyline of New York featuring a matte acetate frame and smoky lenses with the unmistakable skyline of the Big Apple applied to the inside of the temples. Police launched blue lenses in 1993, the S8848 is a style that epitomizes the Police brand with updated blue flash lenses in a gilded metal double bridge navigator shape. For Autumn Winter 2013 and completing the collection, Police goes back to the iconic mask for both men and women and introduces two large wrap-around styles. For him, the S8856, a matte mask characterized by curled rubber temples that are inspired by street sports and the non-slip material used on skateboards. For her, a sophisticated vintage mask is created to compliment a sleek metropolis look featuring a shiny metal frame with a contrasting white matte trim and finished with silver lenses.
