REM Launches Jonathan Adler Collection
Quick Take: REM Eyewear has launched the Jonathan Adler eyewear collection.
Wearer: “I’m obsessed with eyewear. It fits my world perfectly,” said Adler. “Eyewear is glamour. Eyewear is style. Glasses can make or break a guy or girl, so I’m excited to be playing in the world.”
Specifics: Adler, famous for his assortment of home goods and fashion accessories, took details from furniture design and applied them to his collection, which includes sunglasses, readers and optical frames.

The Acapulco style is a modified square shape, while the Capri is an oversized frame with an acetate construction. The Santorini is a modified square shape with an endpiece inspired by campaign hardware used on Jonathan Adler furniture. The Waikiki is vibrant in color with an oversized hexagonal shape currently used on Jonathan Adler handbags.

ESE Distributes Été Lunettes in U.S.
Quick Take: Eastern States Eyewear (ESE) has is exclusively distributing Été Lunettes in the United States.
Wearer: The ideal Été woman’s sense of fashion is one of individuality and beauty, but not extremes. Created with her in mind, each Été frame is handmade in Italy or France, and only a limited number of each is produced worldwide.
Specifics: The launch includes 17 optical styles and 14 sunglasses.
Selling Points: Été models are defined by their acetate and acrylic plexiglass designs that obtain their color effect through the use of real natural feathers that are cleaned before use and follow all animal protection laws. In the acetate styles, these feathers are treated, dyed and placed by hand between two acetate sheets. In the acrylic models, each feature engravings that are done through the use of a handheld micro cutter with feather coloration applied after. The designs’ symmetry is achieved through Été expertise, artisanship and craftsmanship.

Etnia Barcelona Bows Yokohama Sunset Collection
Quick Take: Etnia Barcelona has launched its limited edition Yokohama Sunset Collection.
Specifics: Four frames, two sunglasses and two ophthalmic frames, are introduced in this collection.
Selling Points: Named after Japan’s second city, the Yokohama Sunset collection was inspired by the aesthetics of the Japanese small port of entry. The unisex metal frames have rounded designs and a vintage flair, and are available in both gold and platinum finishes. Manufactured using a mixture of metal and acetate, the sunglasses style uses Barberini SPA lenses that are made of natural mineral glass. These shock-resistant glasses underwent anti-scratch and anti-static electricity treatment, and were made with a filter that intensifies primary colors and provides high definition vision. The sunglasses are UV protected, with a triple-layer anti-reflective interior and a temperature resistance of over 400 degrees.

Theo Introduces Unique Shuffle Collection
Quick Take: German-based brand Theo has released its latest, the Shuffle collection.
Specifics: The innovative Shuffle collection features five new ophthalmic styles.
Selling Points: The Move, Change, Slide, Shift and Adapt frames originated from a unique design idea – slicing a pair of glass horizontally and shifting the frame’s upper half. The quirky and playful styles are made of stainless steel and are available in a variety of eight bright colors. The black earpieces of the five ophthalmic frames end in round tips that are also sliced in two and overlapped. Lenses do not fully fill the frame shapes, giving the styles a unique look. “It’s a little bit out there, but then again, Theo has never been afraid of trying something new,” the company said.

Vuarnet Debuts the Glacier Eclipse
Vuarnet has introduced their Glacier style entirely in black for the Glacier Eclipse. The famous aviator frame, first created in 1957, is now clad entirely in black, from the metallic and acetate parts to the removable leather strap.
