Shauns California Debuts Optical Collection
Quick Take: Founded in 2011, Shauns California is a West Coast label with a mission to redefine California style, while challenging the meaning of luxury. In doing so, Shauns has introduced a new ophthalmic collection Wearer: Men and women looking for a sophisticated, fashionable frame with an authentic independent story. Specifics: Featuring modern wearable shapes, the collection includes six full acetate frames and six combination frames in gradient and textured acetate of tortoise, marble and shell. Selling Points: According to the company, the brand’s philosophy of “soulful luxury” is the commitment to delivering a handmade product using quality components, in addition to eliminating visual impairment around the world. To uphold this ideology, the collection is designed in California and handmade by craftsman in small family-owned workshops in Italy. Luzerne Optical Launches TheraBlue
Quick Take: Luzerne Optical Laboratories is releasing TheraBlue, a new lens technology for protection from HEV (High Energy Visible) blue light. Wearer: Those looking for a nearly clear lens. Unlike some other blue light protection products, TheraBlue is an almost clear lens. It is not a coating and does not have a purple or blue reflective color, nor does it have a yellow, orange or peach color like some other products. Specifics: TheraBlue is available in single vision, progressive lenses, digital round bifocals, and computer lenses. It is available in three different materials: 1.67, 1.60 and an impact-resistant 1.56. TheraBlue is compatible with a wide variety of anti-reflective coatings and can be ordered with or without AR. Selling Points: The UV and HEV blue light protection comes from the lens material itself. Instead of reflecting blue light, TheraBlue absorbs and filters the damaging HEV blue violet, while allow for the “good” blue turquoise light.
