PPG, Thai Optical Group and Global Optics Announce North American Availability of Tribrid Lenses

Quick Take: PPG, Thai Optical Group and Global Optics are introducing Tribrid lenses in North America. The high-performance high-index lenses are available in semi-finished single vision clear lenses and are compatible with digital free-form processing and anti-reflective coatings.

Specifics: Tribrid lens material was developed by PPG using an advanced hybrid material approach incorporating chemistry for Trivex lens material with traditional high-index lens material chemistry. The result is a high-index lens that that offers the combination of vision comfort, protection and performance with enhanced thinness.
"Tribrid material is a unique, unprecedented approach to high-index lenses and is ideal for eyecare professionals who want to offer a fully optimized visual experience to patients with more demanding vision correction needs," said Philip Wojcik, PPG general manager, optical monomers and coatings.
“We are confident that Tribrid lenses will exceed the expectations of eyecare professionals by providing a greater balance of lens performance features in a thinner, high-index format,” commented Torn Pracharktam, managing director, Thai Optical Group.
Barbara Vitchus, president and general manager, Global Optics, a leading supplier of lenses to independent laboratories in North America, said, “We identified Tribrid lenses as the next stage in the evolution of high-index lens technology, and we wanted to be the first to bring this exciting lens to North America."
With the launch of Tribrid lenses in the region, Global Optics also announced that any optical laboratory can now apply to become a Global Optics associate member. Quick Take: Tura Inc. debuts new optical styles from its British line, with models for women and men, just in time for fall.
Wearer: Anyone who needs a dapper frame for work or something more casual for school.
Specifics: The collection features rich materials including high density acetate, “T” branding, custom acetate and stone set hardware. These latest additions are part of the Speechless and Iconic “T” collections, which incorporate tailored vintage and modern features and subtle luxury branding details.
Selling Points: Style B886 made for men features a sleek front and is made of two-layer acetate that has been cut from behind, leaving a subtle thin outline around the frame that creates a frame within a frame. Even more unique is the polished exterior and matte interior of the frame.

B737 designed for women, is a retro inspired teacup shape modernized with a feminine uplift and a unique jeweled “T” decor. The “T” accent features Swarovski crystal square stones embedded in the metal jewelry like hardware. This jewel stone “T” is an iconic and romantic symbol found in the brand’s jewelry collection. Kingsley Rowe Introduces the Fall in Love Collection for FW 16

Quick Take: Kingsley Rowe’s Fall in Love collection was created to celebrate the rich colors and textures of the fall season. The campaign was created in the Art District in downtown Los Angeles, which set the tone and shaped the vision of the collection into a reality, the company said.
Specifics: Five new styles in three to four new colors. Two of the styles are available in both sun and optical variations, and all styles are unisex.
Selling Points: “Fall in Love with Kingsley Rowe’s Fall/Winter collection is inspired by the rich colors and textures of the season. From the changing leaves and the rich oak trees to the warm marble shades and crystal hues, this collection re-elects this. Some styles are finished with rich metal detailing, while sun lenses come in solid and ombre shades,” the company said in a statement.

Marc Jacobs Label introduces its fall/winter 2016 eyewear styles. The unexpected, unconventional and unique styles in this collection juxtapose the avant-garde with traditional eyewear looks, according to the company. The styles included in this collection are comprised of optical and sun as well as male and female shapes.
The panthos shaped Marc 101/s and the cat eye shaped Marc 100/s each possess a multi-layer lens construction in which the lenses relinquish their traditional functionality to become part of the frame design.
