LAUNCHES
Sama Eyewear Launches the Mechanix Collection, a Full Metal Range for Fall
Quick Take: Designed by Sheila Vance, Sama Eyewear is launching a full metal range collection, Mechanix. Specifics: The frames feature a lightweight, full titanium—incorporated from temple tips to nose pads—with a disappearing seamless joint between face and temple giving the look of one continuous metal piece. Mechanix frames are hand assembled in France and fuse fashion with function. Selling Points: The styles include large and small modified square frames, classic aviators, oversized and small round models with a top bar with a full range of colors. “Vance sought out the only source in the world, based in the South of France, who could create true colored metal permeating through each and every layer to fully saturate the metal, (therefore the color will never fade) and is then sealed with an semi-iridescent sheen finish. The inset, in some of the designs is offered in a same tone color match to blend or be paired with a stand out palette in pearl, gold, silver, black, Ice blue or dusty rose,” the company said. Additionally, the combining of the titanium sheet metal into tubular metal creates the “floating lens” illusion. Price Guide: $$$$$ www.samaeyewear.com

Krewe Debuts the Stella Custom Acetate Collection

Specifics: The custom line of acetate frames consists of nine updated Krewe styles, seven sun and two optical, created in collaboration with artisans at Mazzucchelli. Selling Points: The Stella collection was inspired by the rhythm of traditional New Orleans jazz. Stirling Barrett, founder and creative director of Krewe, worked on modifying a retired randomized block cut technique with his own colors to create a unique pattern that runs throughout the acetate, the company said. “Here at Krewe, we recognize that what you’re wearing is an extension of who you are—and every time you choose to wear something unique and one of a kind, you’re making a statement about your own personal style,” Barrett said. “If we can create something that’s special—beyond just the frame design—that our customers are excited about, it makes all the effort worthwhile. With Stella, we stuck with our philosophy of breaking the rules, but with the hope of having people respond on a deeper level to something that so much care and time went into.” Price Guide: $$$$$ www.krewe.com
