Wearer: Founded in 1951, Marimekko’s use of bold colors and unconventional prints gave the company a strong and unique identity. According to Mondottica, Marimekko’s courageous, positive and empowering way of life has been translated into the eyewear collection through classic prints and unique colors that celebrate the company’s art of print making. Inspired by nature, the collection also features a brushed wood effect finishing.
Specifics: The first optical products, conceived and developed by Mondottica in collaboration with the Marimekko design team, will hit the Finnish market this August, with the entire collection launching globally at the end of 2015.
Selling Points: With headquarters in Hong Kong and offices all over the globe, Mondottica works with different brands to transform their design heritage to unique eyewear. Mondottica has contributed this vast expertise to the Marimekko collection by incorporating unique materials and techniques with carefully crafted details. Selling Points: In sun, the Carrerino 10 is a wayfarer acetate frame that pairs a transparent front with solid colored temples for both girls and boys. Sporting a pilot unisex shape and shaded lenses, Carrerino 11 features a stainless steel front and metal temples accentuated with raised temple tips in contrasting colors.
