VSP Optics Group Releases TechShield AR Coatings

Specifics: The TechShield portfolio features a streamlined lineup of four core products, simple language, straightforward benefits and near-limitless lens compatibility. In addition to providing “exceptional visual performance and cosmetic appearance,” TechShield outperformed the industry-leading AR coating in independent testing for scratch resistance, while receiving “excellent” grades for glare and reflection reduction, cleanability, oil and water resistance, and UV protection, according to VSP.

Specifics: This collaboration is a limited edition set of four sun styles in four colors, all created in natural buffalo horn.
Selling Points: The designers took inspiration from Audrey Hepburn “whose understated elegance inspired the timeless shapes in the collection.” Each piece from the collection is a sleek and clean from flat front lines and unique soft faceting on the interior of each shapes. Among the frames, the Sabrina is a soft classic rectangle shape; Regina is a vintage inspired, low-temple round; Holly is a bold, heavy gauge cat-eye and Jo is a large square frame. The rounding technique, combined with a soft bend in the temples on all four style, make each piece comfortable while heightening the vintage feel. “Oscar de la Renta is such a beautiful and iconic brand—we were very excited to partner on this amazing collection for which we could use our trademark natural buffalo horn to create one-of-a-kind sun wear,” said Jeff Press, Morgenthal Frederics’ designer. Produced in a limited quantity of 300, each frame will retail for $2,495 and be available in Morgenthal Frederics and Oscar de la Renta boutiques nationwide in February. They will also come with a custom leather case.
