Leybold Optics Offers Mini AR Coating System

Product:
Mini Coating System (MCS)
Top Line: Leybold Optics’ advanced anti-reflective coating technology is now available in a compact platform. The MCS complements Leybold Optic’s existing portfolio of equipment with an even lower priced entry point for small to midsize labs with lower production needs, including retail chain labs.

Even with its compact design, this machine includes all the latest technology such as ion assisted deposition, in-chamber hydrophobic, electron beam gun, a turbo pumping system and intelligent software. All this is designed to apply a high quality AR, in any lens material with green or blue reflection color, standard hydrophobic, super hydrophobic layer, mirror coating, on spin coated or dip coated lenses.
Vital Stats: The MCS’ small size, allows installation in very small labs with 200 to 250 sq.ft or less. The MCS platform can be combined with Leybold’s turnkey lab packages and with its MicroLab spin coating or dip coating solutions.

iCanConnect Launches Website to Distribute Communications Technology to Vision and Hearing Impaired

Product:
www.iCanConnect.org
Top Line: Americans who have combined vision and hearing loss can now access technology that will allow them to connect with people around the corner and across the world by logging on to www.iCanConnect.org.
Close Up: The recently launched website, which is administered by Perkins School for the Blind and Helen Keller National Center, accommodates users with low vision, people who use screen readers and features video that is both audio-described and closed captioned. From screen enlargement software and videophones, to off-the-shelf products that are accessible or adaptable, www.iCanConnect.org offers a vast array of new communications technology.
Assessment, training and equipment are available free of charge to those who meet federal eligibility guidelines.
“The launch of the iCanConnect website is a major step forward in the effort to enable people with disabilities to interact with the world as involved, contributing members of society,” said Steven Rothstein, president of Perkins. “Perkins’ most famous student, Helen Keller, exemplified the potential of a person who is deaf-blind. We are proud to have a role in the creation of this important website.”
Vital Stats: The www.iCanConnect.org launch advances the iCanConnect campaign mission to raise awareness about the National DeafBlind Equipment Distribution Program (NDBEDP). Mandated by the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act (CVAA), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) established this new program to ensure every person with combined hearing and vision loss has access to modern communications tools and the training necessary to use them.
