Wink Technologies Completes Frames Data IDA integration

Top Line: Wink Technologies, provider of Practice Management Software for Eyecare professionals, has completed an integration with Frames Data's IDA (Immediate Data Access) subscription service. Users of Wink can now subscribe to Frames Data IDA and access frame information, updated daily, over the internet to efficiently manage inventory and track eyewear sales via the Wink interface.
Close Up: "We are very excited to be able to make our IDA service available to Wink users," said Tom Doyle, director of marketing and key accounts at Frames Data. "The beauty of Frames Data IDA is that subscribers can update their inventory with new frames daily, but without the time consuming data entry. New frames are introduced all the time, and we can now deliver that information much faster. It makes the inventory process all around easier, and we're glad that Wink is now able to offer this to their users."
Ted Harrar, Wink's vice president of marketing, noted, "Having Frames Data inside Wink will allow our users to jumpstart their adoption of the inventory functionality we've created for them," he said. "Receiving new inventory was a daunting task before. Now they need only scan a UPC code and it's done. This is significant improvement." Furthermore, with a single scan of a barcode, we can show pictures of frames as well as alternative colors and sizes which are available. It just makes the entire process so quick and easy.
Vital Stats: Wink is the third software provider to complete integration with the Frames Data IDA service, following FlexScanMD and My Vision Express.

C&E Vision Releases myCloud, a Web-based Transaction Archive

Top Line: The C&E Vision optical buying group is debuting a new service to its members called myCloud, a cloud-based transaction archive that holds six years of member monthly statements, vendor invoices and product purchasing reports.
Close Up: Although C&E Vision has been providing monthly statements and vendor invoices online for some time, this new service allows members the ability to gain access to six years' worth of data as well as analyze purchase data by vendor sku with a breakdown that shows tax, freight and number of products ordered over an extended period of time.
"We all know how important statement and invoice data is for record keeping but sometimes life gets in the way," said Steve Wagner, principal of C&E Vision. "With unforeseen issues such as fires, floods, or simply misfiling our members need access to their information within minutes when researching is necessary."
Vital Stats: The myCloud data invoice storage systems can back up more than 6.4 million invoices and statements, according to C&E Vision.

Gulden Introduces Ophthalmic Surgical Patient Stabilizer Headrest

Top Line: Gulden Ophthalmics is introducing the Aviles Ophthalmic Surgical Patient Stabilizer Headrest to address the problem of patients turning their heads away from the surgeon during eye surgery. The Aviles Headrest helps to save surgery time, stabilizes the patient in an ideal position, and is comfortable for both the patient and the surgeon.
Close Up: The headrest uses two comfortable gel pads: a large pad on which the patient lays his or her head and a smaller side pad that is adjustable for different size heads and locks into position, stabilizing the patient's position. The side pad adjusts independently of wrist rest position and works best with split-style wrist rests. The non-surgical side wrist rest is used to anchor the headrest in place.
The headrest is ideal for stabilizing patients' heads for procedures such as cataract surgery and IOL implantation; surgical trabeculectomy and iridectomy; lasik surgery; pterygium removal; eyelid surgery; goniotomy; canaloplasty; cyclocryotherapy; and other surgical procedures. The headrest will also work with single piece horseshoe wrist rests with additional supports or modifications, depending on the brand of surgical stretcher.
Vital Stats: The surgical headrest was designed by Ricardo Aviles, MD of Sierra Vista, Ariz., an experienced ophthalmologist who was formerly a mechanical engineer.
