Topcon Intros Next Gen Pattern Scanning Laser PASCAL

Product: PASCAL Synthesis
Top Line: Topcon Medical Systems is releasing a new version of its pattern scanning laser PASCAL Synthesis that features new patterns, an improved interface with 3D controller and a wheelchair accessible, ergonomic table.
Close Up: The new ATE-S table with a clean, uncluttered look, ease of mobility and modern design continues the PASCAL concept of efficiency, precision and space savings. Some of the key points of the new ATE-S table are wheelchair accessibility, a modern, compact design, a quiet smooth height adjustment movement, internal cabling, a convenient drawer below the laser console and integrated electronics with all functions controlled from one switch. The PASCAL Synthesis dual-port pattern scanning retinal laser is available in both 532 nm and 577 nm wavelengths. With pricing comparable to a premium single spot laser system, PASCAL Synthesis allows for fast and effective treatment of retinal disorders using clinically proven pattern-generating technology. Uniquely employing three precision galvanometers, the PASCAL Synthesis offers high reliability and laser output control consistency.
Vital Stats: Based on more than 10 years of pattern generating laser technology evolution, PASCAL Synthesis offers a wide range of comprehensive retinal and macular patterns easily accessed from an interactive user control panel. The Synthesis now includes several new titration patterns, each with adjustable power settings, allowing titration of several spots in a single shot delivery. Precise pattern spacing is further improved by the new hexagon pattern. Consistently spaced burns and single spots can be delivered as well. The optional endpoint management software upgrade provides physicians the ability to treat with photo-thermal stimulating therapy for less-damaging treatment of a variety of retinal diseases such as diabetic macular edema and central serous
retinopathy.

Kopin Debuts Solos, Smart Eyewear for Cyclists

Product: Solos
Top Line: Last week at CES 2016, Kopin Corp. debuted Solos, an ultra-lightweight smart eyewear aerodynamically designed for optimal performance, comfort and style while cycling. Solos allows cyclists to easily access and share performance data on a head-up display in real-time wirelessly from their smartphone or wearable fitness device. It accurately displays and shares performance data that allows athletes to achieve maximum potential in training for triathlons, century rides or mountain trails.
Close Up: Solos has been analyzed and tested in wind tunnels to ensure optimal comfort and reduced drag when in use. Resting comfortably on the face, the minimalist and flexible design enables Solos to be compatible with any aerodynamic helmet. It features anti-slip temple and nose pads for ultimate grip during high-intensity training. The frames are built to be ultra-durable with high-end polycarbonate that shields from impact, wind, dust and shocks.
A key design element of Solos is the Vista virtual screen. It measures only 4mm in height, as small as the size of a human pupil, allowing see-through/see-around vision, while showcasing a large 5-inch virtual display with bright, high-resolution color graphics. The screen cuts glare so images can be easily read on the sunniest of days. A new nSight opto-mechanical adjustment further enhances comfort and minimizes eye strain when worn on longer training sessions or trails.
Solos monitors performance metrics such as heart rate, speed, power, pace, cadence, distance, duration, and other Bluetooth and ANT+ compatible data. The Solos app captures, streams and syncs data, allowing cyclists to customize workouts while keeping track of target performance levels. It also supports existing training programs and new tool development that enables users to see progress and heighten performance capabilities.
A unique feature of Solos is Whisper advanced voice extraction technology that allows voice commands to control the display settings like caller ID, notifications and social media without lifting a finger. The integrated near-ear stereo speaker system with ambient monitoring provides optimal control of volume levels to deliver performance cues that can be clearly heard above the noise of the road and wind.
Vital Stats: Solos incorporates a new SiMax Li-ion battery which has double the energy density compared to other commercial Li-ion batteries. The SiMax battery enables a sleek design of Solos, while providing riders with up to 10 hours in a single charge.
Strava integration technology allows users to download GPS routes and upload recorded activity to share with friends. Once the account has been connected with Strava, all training sessions will automatically transfer to them, so sharing information with teammates and friends is easy. Delivering advanced performance metrics to iOS and Android phones, Solos comes equipped with ANT+ technology that enables wearable and smartphone devices to effectively share health data. The all-inclusive platform and sensory indicators provide enhanced metrics such as speed, power, pace, heart rate, distance, duration, and other Bluetooth and ANT+ compatible information.
Solos will be available in Q2 2016 for an MSRP of $499.

drchrono Launches Fully-featured iPhone EHR

Product: iPhone EHR
Top Line: drchrono is launching iPhone EHR with full clinical documentation. Previously, drchrono allowed a physician to take all of their paper medical forms and put them onto iPad and web, to do rounds and document patient information. With full clinical documentation, a physician can now literally see patients with an iPhone and do his/her rounds. This is especially useful for times when physicians only have their phone with them, but want to quickly document a patient encounter.
Close Up: A physician generally has a number of clinical forms that they use to document; all of these can be loaded onto iPad, web and now iPhone. drchrono allows this simple transition or hand off if a physician wants to go from one device to another.
“This is a major step forward for the mobile EHR industry. As more and more form factors come out, like the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Pro, we are rethinking and redefining our technology so we can be on all of these devices,” said Michael Nusimow, CEO and cofounder, of drchrono. “With drchrono’s EHR, wherever a physician is, whatever device they are on, they can get access to a patient's medical record and do documentation.”
Using drchrono, physicians can now submit full documentation to a billing team or to an insurance company right from an iPhone. For those physicians on an iPhone 6 Plus, they can also take advantage of both horizontal view and vertical view.
Vital Stats: The new iPhone EHR is available on the free meaningful use certified EHR from drchrono and all paid plans.
