Close Up: Essibox is designed to facilitate the transfer of information between various sources in an optometric practice: optometry equipment, measurement devices, practice management software, ordering software, etc. The system eliminates the need for multiple data entries and connects all of the practice’s tools and systems creating a single, continuous information flow. Available by subscription, Essibox provides software updates, remote maintenance, electronic documentation, and multi-site management capability, including remote tracing.

Vital Stats: Essibox effectively manages shape and drill point database. Its unlimited storage capacity enables the creation of an archive of shape and drilling data. The unit comes with a pre-loaded database of over 2500 shapes and drill patterns.

Product: ChangeRx plastic photochromic lenses
Top Line: ChangeRx from Vision-Ease Lens is an economically-priced plastic photochromic lens that provides 100 percent UVA and UVB protection. It combines lightweight comfort with superior photochromic performance, according to Vision-Ease.
“Offering ChangeRx plastic photochromics is our response to the price barrier found with other photochromic options,” said John Bator, senior product manager, Vision-Ease Lens. “ChangeRx performance will have customers do a double take when it comes to the affordability.”
Close Up: ChangeRx lenses are available in SFSV, D28, PAL and FSV/FSV AR in both gray and brown. The lenses are made with homogeneous “in mass” manufacturing, where photochromic molecules are embedded throughout the plastic lens monomer, not bonded or coated to the surface. The result is fast, uniform reactivity when exposed to UV light.
Vital Stats: Eleven percent lighter and more comfortable than standard hard resin lenses, ChangeRx lenses provide the optical performance of a 1.50 refractive index in hard resin material with specific gravity of 1.18 g/cc. They also provide 89.1 percent indoor light transmission and activate rapidly to ISO Sunglass Category 3 range, making them the ideal lens choice for both indoor and outdoor use.
