Coburn Technologies Intros Low Volume AR System
Top Line: Coburn Technologies is releasing the latest and most innovative model of its product line of high performance anti-reflective coating systems; the OAC 25. The new OAC 25 is specifically designed for lower volume environments that require the widest variety of AR coating options in the smallest available footprint. The OAC 25 is the first true retail, ion-assisted vacuum deposition AR coating system.
Close Up: For space-restrained labs, the OAC 25 is over 30 percent smaller than competitive systems and offers a very small in‐lab footprint. “The OAC 25 specifically engages the opportunity to expand market acceptance of anti‐reflective coating in the U.S.,” said Alex Incera, president of Coburn Technologies. “Some global markets have over 90 percent acceptance and use of AR coating. Through the OAC 25 we provide the market with greater, easier access to another proven system for consumer eye care.”
Vital Stats: The OAC 25 uses proven vacuum deposition technology, instead of sputter or chemical deposition techniques, allowing it to deliver high quality AR in a size never available before.

Hoya Partners With Avantek to Offer ‘Distortion-Free Optics’
Top Line: Hoya and Avantek are introducing Distortion-Free Optics, a unique lens design, material, treatment and mounting system combination that offers light weight eyewear that is free of distortions.
Close Up: Distortion-Free Optics integrates four key components—lens materials, design, treatment and mounting system. First, Phoenix lenses are made from the lightest available lens material, clear vision and superior strength. Second, Hoya Free-form design technology ensures the highest visual acuity. And third, Hoya’s Super HiVision EX3 anti-reflective treatment provides a high degree of scratch resistance, reflection protection, and clean and clear performance. The fourth and final key element is the Avantek patented mounting – the first system that is completely stress-free to preserve the precision optics of the Hoya Free-form lenses. In addition to eliminating the need for obstructive screws, wires or rims, the Avantek Mounting System offers superior durability in comparison to drill mounts. “This is potentially one of those products that establishes a paradigm shift whereby Hoya, by partnering with Avantek, created a solution to a problem very few realized even existed,” said Barney Dougher, president of Hoya Vision Care, "We have combined the best available mounting systems and lens technologies into one complete product: Distortion-Free Optics."
Vital Stats: Ultra lightweight and fashionable Distortion-Free optics are available in eight colors and eight lens shapes with two eye sizes.
