VisionWeb Integrates with Diversified Ophthalmics’ Practice Maximus Software
|
Top Line: The VisionWeb ophthalmic product ordering service is now integrated with Diversified Ophthalmics’ Practice Maximus optometric management software. With this module, eyecare professionals using the Practice Maximus software can now place orders directly with any of VisionWeb’s lab partners from within their practice management software.
Close Up: The integration follows years of collaborative innovation for the two companies. For example, 10 years ago, as one of VisionWeb’s early partners, Diversified was the first to offer ECPs the option to order both soft contact lenses and eyeglass lenses through the VisionWeb portal. “The integration of Practice Maximus with VisionWeb’s ordering portal means our current and future practice management software user base can place orders with their preferred lab right at their fingertips,” said Ronald Cooke, OD, president and chief executive officer of Diversified Ophthalmics. “This, along with our EHR certification, is a very important milestone in our continued effort to meet the growing needs of our customers and their patients.”
Vital Stats: Practice Maximus is Windows-based graphical optometric office management software that allows optometrists to keep their office up-to-date with their patient information and more.

Carl Zeiss Vision’s iPad-based i.Demo App Available through iTunes Store
|
Top Line: Carl Zeiss Vision has announced that the interactive i.Demo app for iPad is now available as a free i.Tunes download for Carl Zeiss Vision account holders.
Close Up: The i.Demo app is designed to help patients choose the best lenses and treatments for their needs. Through easy-to-understand images, i.Demo shows the advantages of customized vs. standard lenses, computer and office lenses and treatments like AR coating.
“The ongoing problem in educating patients about new lens technologies is that they have difficulty visualizing how their eyeglasses could work better,” said Claude Labeeuw, Carl Zeiss Vision’s vice president—marketing. “With more and more practices using iPads, i.Demo 2.0 provides a patient-friendly way of showing the advantages of premium lenses and treatments.”
The i.Demo app includes an optional “profile” feature that allows the ECP to capture the patient’s needs and the recommended lens solution that results. The profile and recommendations can then be printed out for the patient. “Another key to educating the patient is linking the final recommendation to his or her stated need,” said Labeeuw. “The printout makes it easy for patients to remember what lenses they chose, and why.”
Vital Stats: Carl Zeiss Vision customers who have iPads may download i.Demo app free of charge from the i.Tunes app store by searching “i.Demo” or “ZEISS.”
