Schneider’s New Digital Generator Combines Speed With Precision
More Images |
Top Line: Schneider’s new HSC Modulo XT digital surfacing generator draws from the company’s extensive experience in the field of ultra-precise machining and includes a number of technical developments.
Close Up: The HSC Modulo XT’s new guiding and bearing technology guarantee “highest machine stiffness and process stability for never before achieved surface quality,” according to Schneider. A new dynamic motor philosophy raises the bar in acceleration, robustness and uptime. Together with newly designed high frequency drives and controllers, the HSC Modulo XT offers the industry’s fastest milling and turning processes, Schneider said.
“This radical new high speed cutting technology is a game changer in the digital generating market,” said Kurt Atchison, president of Schneider North America. “It has the highest ever degree of lens design replication combined with exceptional productivity. As part of the Modulo system, it is the only generator that provides real time feedback and data such as tool life, coolant temperature, error status— even service notification and tutorials.”
The HSC Modulo XT can run as a stand-alone generator or has its own on-board interface for connection to Schneider’s highly integrated and unique system solution—the Modulo system. Following a new self-organizing philosophy, the cognitive Modulo machines manage the production flow by themselves—fully self-sufficient and with the highest equipment utilization possible.
Vital Stats:
• Superior design replication
• Premium quality with highest throughput
• Unsurpassed surface roughness
• Full surfacing capability for all curves and materials
• Processing of high-wrap lenses
• Easy swarf removal
• Rugged industrial design
• Supports the new cognitive Modulo machine philosophy

ABB Optical Group Updates Annual Supply Training Tutorial for Office Staff
More Images |
Top Line: Lynda Baker, executive vice president of ABB Optical Group explains, “This Annual Supply Tutorial was developed to help show doctors and their office staff the importance of selling annual supplies not only for their practice’s benefits of patient retention and office efficiencies but also for the patient’s overall cost savings, comfort, and visual acuity that comes with patient compliance. The tutorial walks through scenarios on how to handle objections for purchases of annual supplies of contact lenses, in addition to providing scripts for those scenarios. This updated version shows doctors and staff how to utilize some new tools available in our Patient Retention Program such as our Contact Lens Savings Plan and Product Guides that we offer exclusively for our accounts.”
Close Up: ABB Optical Group has developed many tools available for accounts with the Patient Retention Program Toolbox. These Annual Supply Tools include the Retail Price Monitor, Annual Supply Comparison Sheet, Guide to Patient Retention, Yourlens ECP Web Store with Auto Ship, Contact Lens Savings Plan, Staff Training and Product Guides.
Vital Stats: ABB Optical Group’s sales representatives have been fully trained to provide training for practitioners’ office staff on presenting annual supplies of contact lenses. ECPs can book appointments for training sessions.

Eschenbach Intros Telescopic Magnification that Attaches to Prescription Eyewear
More Images |
Top Line: The MaxTV Clip is a convenient 2x clip-on telescopic system that attaches to eyewear and magnifies objects (for example, a TV) that are approximately 10 feet away. To use it, squeeze the clip to separate the prongs and then attach the product to the bridge of the eyewear and release the clip.
Close Up: The MaxTV Clip has protective rubber covers over the prongs so the Clip won't scratch the lenses of the user's eyewear. The rubber covers also prevent the MaxTV Clip from slipping off the eyewear or from moving out of alignment. In addition, the backside of the ocular lenses have a thin foam strip to avoid scratching the lenses of the eyewear. When magnification is not needed, or the user wants to focus on close-up text or objects, the MaxTV Clip can be flipped up and out of the way; there is no need to constantly remove and reattach it.
To ensure the optimal line of sight that maximizes the user's field of view is gained, the lens assembly can be placed on one of five different vertical positions to achieve the appropriate and most suitable height.
Vital Stats:
• Magnification: 2x
• Lens Design: Galilean Telescopic system
• Field of View: Wide field of view of 9 degrees
• Working Distance: Large working distance of approximately 10 feet
• Weight: 28.6 grams or 1 ounce
• PD Range: 60mm to 68mm
• Case: Protective sturdy, zipped case included
• Lens Height Range: Choice of five lens heights to allow an optimal line of sight
