ABB CONCISE, the largest U.S. contact lens distributor, has made a significant update to its quarterly
Soft Contact Lens Retail Price Monitor, now in its ninth year. The Price Monitor helps eyecare practitioners understand the dynamics of pricing soft contact lenses using annual supply discounts. New to this year, the Retail Price Monitor compares ECP retail pricing of soft contact lenses against online competitors 1800 Contacts and WalMart online separately. ABB CONCISE accounts will notice this change to their quarterly Soft Lens Retail Price Monitor starting in Q1 2013.
Due to the split of WalMart and 1800 Contacts, ABB CONCISE believed it was important to report the two online competitors pricing separately. Lynda Baker, ABB CONCISE's Executive Vice President explains, "We would be performing a disservice to our customers if we didn’t accurately report what is currently happening between these online competitors. We hope by making this information available that our accounts will see how important it is for them to continue focusing their practices' efforts on selling annual supplies and utilizing manufacturer rebates to remain competitive. The Price Monitor also reflects manufacturer price and rebate changes. We have made adjustments to our suggested retail pricing to reflect those changes while maintaining profitable margins. Now is the time to re–evaluate your pricing strategy and get your practice on board with selling annual supplies."
To help with this strategy of selling annual supplies, ABB CONCISE offers tools such as their Annual Supply Tutorial for practice staff training, Annual Supply Comparison Worksheet, and Annual Supply Contact Lens Savings Plan worksheet.
