Oliver Peoples has announced a re-launch of the brand's
website, which will serve as a digital flagship for the company. The new site illustrates the unique voice of the brand over the past 25 years and is designed as an editorial platform to convey the visual language of the brand and communicate the Oliver Peoples voice on a global scale.
The new oliverpeoples.com features four interactive categories: Optical, Sun, World of Peoples and Working Opticians. The Optical and Sun sections house the brand's e-commerce boutique, which will include styles from the current and classic collections. Frame images in four angles, in addition to exclusive street style photography, show the brand's distinct eyewear from both a product design and fit perspective, illustrating how each style looks on male and female faces.
Site visitors will have the option of grid or scroll view. An upcoming feature will be a Lightbox, which will allow users to bookmark their favorite frames and compare them in one location.
The World of Peoples section explores the past, present and future of Oliver Peoples and the lifestyle it represents. The Journal, which is the site's home for blogging and social media, features a hybrid of news, events and fashion-oriented entries. Relevant tastemakers from different cultural arenas will be featured through exclusive, editorial content including interviews, stories and articles. The first feature here is an exclusive interview with Bret Easton Ellis, the infamous author of the cult classic novel, American Psycho. In the book, Ellis name checks Oliver Peoples glasses, making them a fundamental aspect of the Wall Street banker's uniform. In the 2000 film adaptation, Christian Bale wears the O'Malley, one of the most iconic and recognizable designs in the Oliver Peoples archive.
The World of Peoples will also illustrate Oliver Peoples' footprint in entertainment, style and culture by showcasing brand's campaign videos, annual compilation CDs, and brand collaborations. A synopsis of the brand's 25-year history is available, along with notable past and present press coverage. The Working Opticians page looks at the integrity and intricacy of Oliver Peoples' designs. This section will house imagery of the Sunset Boulevard headquarters, the design studio and behind-the-scenes images of the brand's manufacturing facilities, all of which communicate the brand's dedication to craftsmanship, quality and attention to detail.
