FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. —In 2019, The Power Practice is encouraging its doctor-clients to examine their practices—and worldview—through a different perspective. To that end, attendees at The Power Practice's upcoming national client meeting in mid-April in San Diego, will hear from some non-traditional speakers and a different type of keynote speaker, according to Gary Gerber, OD, chief dream officer of The Power Practice. Noted Gerber, "Optometrists can achieve greater things by recognizing they are not alone in the everyday business challenges they face, like staff management, Internet competition for services and products and the onslaught of changes thrown at ODs.

The way you handle a VSP plan today might change tomorrow,” he added. “Change is constant for all of us—Warby Parker, Visibly, Hubble, United Airlines, IBM, and every entrepreneur and corporation. We have in common with them that we must be steadfast in our commitments to our brands, values, and missions in order to grow our businesses.”

The upcoming naitonal client meeting will be held Apr. 11-12 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, San Diego, Calif.

A partial listing of speakers at 2019’s Client Meeting includes:

  • A successful orthodontist from Salt Lake City
  • A thriving family-owned winery from San Diego
  • The manager of Rancho Bernardo Inn, the boutique hotel hosting the meeting
  • A successful restauranteur
  • A veterinarian who is a practice management expert
In addition, the meeting's keynote speaker will be former White House Counsel Don McGahn. Stated Gerber, "Regardless of political leanings, ODs can learn from the White House about resiliency and the ability to deal with constant change while staying focused on the big picture. McGahn’s talk will not be political. Instead, attendees will hear how he stayed focused on the complexities of his job in the face of a 24/7 whirlwind. Of course, discussion will center on how ODs can apply his experiences to the changes happening in optometry practices."
