SAN DIEGO—Augen Optics Rx Lab, based here, is expanding its sun lens offering through a new partnership with American Sunglass Manufacturing a San Diego company with over 30 years of experience in sunglass and Rx manufacturing. The partnership extends the Augen laboratory portfolio from Rx jobs to plano sun lens edging. With its expanded capabilities, Augen can now provide branded sunglass companies the option to compete in the U.S. sun lens market with a full or partial “Made in the USA” product claim.

“We can now generate our sun lens products from start to finish with a ‘Made in the USA’ product claim,” said Patricia Machado, president of Augen Optics Rx Lab. “We are truly excited to offer these new services and at the same time provide more jobs in the U.S.”

Augen Optics Rx Lab has extensive experience in working with TR91, Grilamid, polycarbonate, and aluminum eyeglass frame designs. In addition, the lab includes a 3D printer and design engineer on staff who can create any design from scratch using 3D auto-cad drawings and modeling, according to Augen. Augen Rx Lab also offers injection molding services through its partners and parent company, Augen Optics USA.
