Latest News edCFDA Creates First Digital Eyewear Design Showcase By Staff Wednesday, December 20, 2017 12:18 AM NEW YORK—The eyewear designers of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (edCFDA) have come together in the digital world to create the first ever online eyewear design showcase. While the edCFDA members have collaborated on eyewear showcases in the past, this year they sought to do something different with their portfolio of work. The edCFDA members had a specific vision when it came to sharing their work with the industry, and came together to collaborate on this digital design showcase. With the help of CFDA member Matt Murphy of Matt Murphy Design, the showcase was created, and nine of the designers’ work is presented in the digital showcase, the CFDA said. “A digital showcase will help us reach a wider audience and is much easier to share,” said Christian Roth, eyewear designer and CFDA member. “We wanted to emphasize our collective thinking—we are a family—by creating a unique lookbook representing independent CFDA eyewear designers which showcases the diverse collections of each brand.” The nine participating brands within the edCFDA include Barton Perreira, Blake Kuwahara, Christian Roth, Krewe, l.a.Eyeworks, Leisure Society by Shane Baum, Morgenthal Frederics, Robert Marc and Selima Optique.Launched in 2014, the edCFDA is a working group within the CFDA whose aim is to promote and empower eyewear design and the optical industry through education, collaborative initiatives and mentoring.
