Latest News IDOC Appoints Dr. Jim Thimons and Matt Yordy to its Board of Directors By Staff Friday, August 3, 2018 12:18 AM NORWALK, Conn.—IDOC, a privately held alliance of independent optometrists, announced that James (Jim) Thimons, OD, FAAO, and Matt Yordy have been named to the group’s board of directors. IDOC said it will benefit from the board members’ “unique expertise as IDOC continues to grow and develop best in class programming and services for its members,” according to the announcement earlier this week. The two new directors expand IDOC’s board to seven director positions, according to a spokeswoman.Thimons will provide insight to IDOC’s executive team on strategic planning, development of programs and education opportunities. Yordy, with extensive knowledge and ties in health care, will bring “a strong perspective in sales, marketing, account management, business development and strategy,” according to the announcement. Thimons currently is the medical director and founding partner of Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut. Among his professional achievements, he is widely known as the founder of The Glaucoma Institute, where he served as its first director. Yordy is a senior vice president, strategy & business development at McKesson, a leading health care company that provides health information technology, medical supplies and care management tools.“I’ve championed what IDOC has been building since I sat at one of the first study group meetings, and was a founding member, almost 20 years ago,” Thimons said in the announcement. “IDOC is dedicated to keeping independent ODs thriving, and offers proprietary strategies, resources, and expertise to help them succeed at every stage of their business.”Dave Brown, president and chief executive of IDOC, said the alliance is “thrilled to welcome Dr. Thimons to our board,” and that he will bring “a deep knowledge of optometry and his advanced research in glaucoma has made him one of the foremost optometrists in the country.” IDOC also is “very excited” to have Yordy join the board, Brown said. “Drawing on his years of experience in strategy and development roles at major healthcare companies, Matt will provide a fresh perspective and unique insights as we work to make IDOC the standard bearer for optometric alliances,” he added. Yordy said he looks forward to working with IDOC on “their exciting growth and expansion strategies.”Other board members at IDOC in addition to Brown are Stuart Frantz (CEO/IMC), Nate Edgerly (CFO/IMC), Tom Donaldson (General Counsel/IMC) and Oliver Spandow (Executive VP and CFO/IDOC).
