ATLANTA—SECO International has opened registration for SECO 2019, a leading conference providing the ophthalmic industry with educational opportunities With the kickoff of the registration cycle, the optometry community is encouraged to recognize outstanding optometric professionals within SECO member states with the annual call for nominations to award SECO Optometrist of the Year, SECO Paraoptometric of the Year, and SECO Young Optometrist of the Year, according to an announcement from the organization. When SECO 2019 opens in New Orleans from Feb. 20 to 24, attendees will have access to 50 continuing education credits over the course of the five days—30 of those over the weekend.

The event will feature a full array of industry-leading continuing education geared to professionals in all areas: optometrists; ophthalmologists; optometric students/residents; opticians; opticianry students/residents paraoptometrics; ophthalmic medical technicians; and optical administrators. SECO will offer more than 400 hours of continuing education, a 33 percent increase over previous years.

SECO 2019’s newly enhanced world-class continuing education program offers more joint courses, expanded CE credits, and exciting new course formats. The range of topics will provide attendees with the latest and best practices and procedures for both treating patients and running a successful practice. Highlights include; 70+ joint courses for doctors and allied health care professionals, more advanced learning for allied health care professionals, and hands-on Learning Labs on critical topics and special sessions with cutting edge speakers including Glaucoma and MIGs with Dr. Ike Ahmed, MD.

As registration opens, SECO issues its annual call for nominations to recognize outstanding optometry professionals. Optometric professionals are encouraged to identify and recognize outstanding individuals for their contributions and dedication to optometry. SECO International will accept award nominations in three award categories: Optometrist of the South, Paraoptometric of the South, and Young Optometrist of the South. Nominations will be accepted through Nov.r 30, 2018. Selected honorees will be recognized during the SECO House of Delegates meeting at SECO 2019, Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019.
