Latest News SynergEyes Announces Partnership with Tangible Science for Contact Lens Coating By Staff Monday, January 2, 2017 12:21 AM CARLSBAD, Calif.—SynergEyes Inc., a leader in hybrid contact lens technology, reported this week that it has reached a licensing agreement with Menlo Park, Calif.-based Tangible Science that will enable SynergEyes to offer Tangible Hydra-PEG polymer coating to eyecare practices and patients. SynergEyes received FDA clearance for Tangible Hydra-PEG in August, the company said, and the lubricious coating is now available on its Duette (a leading hybrid lens for astigmatism and presbyopia) and Duette Progressive lenses. Tangible Hydra-PEG is designed to solve the problem of contact lens discomfort by increasing wettability, surface water retention, tear breakup time, lubricity and deposition resistance, according to a joint statement from the two companies.“The positive experiences of those already wearing Duette with Tangible Hydra-PEG demonstrates the value of the coating,” said Tangible Science president and chief executive officer Vic McCray, MD, in the statement. (Tangible Science was previously known as Ocular Dynamics.)“With this new addition to the Duette line, SynergEyes continues to be a leader in the specialty contact lens arena, providing innovative products to bring better vision to patients,” SynergEyes president and chief executive officer James Kirchner, OD, added. Duette and Duette Progressive with Tangible Hydra-PEG will be available internationally in 2017, according to the statement. SynergEyes says it is the “only high-performance, advanced technology and OD-led contact lens company focused exclusively on leading independent eyecare professionals.”
