The first-of-its-kind photochromic contact lens was named one of Time’s “Best Inventions of 2018.” The contact lenses seamlessly adapt to changing light , helping eyes recover from bright light up to five seconds faster, reducing halos and starbursts at night, and delivering more effortless sight with less squinting, from dawn to dusk.

J&J Vision executives said they believe the new lenses have an “opportunity to be exciting enough” that they prompt an exam-room conversation between the ECP and patient about “bothersome light, light sensitivity and light management.”
“It’s not that photochromics are new, it’s not that contact lenses are new, but sometimes a breakthrough innovation like this has the opportunity to change the conversation, and that’s what we’re hoping for," a spokeswoman explained. "This would be a measure of success for us if there’s an opportunity to change the conversation. This is a way to talk about light in different ways, and raise the solutions that exist. There are now ways to satisfy more patients than ever before.”
