Quest Vision Care Specialty Lab, based here, has appointed two new members to its management team. Ilona Ostrowski has been named chief financial officer. She will oversee the company's financial planning and reporting, accounting, tax and treasury functions which falls in line perfectly with her background of financial planning. Ostrowski began her career in 1996 after graduating from the University of Gdansk, Poland and immigrating to the U.S. She worked for Cadwalader, Wickersham, and Taft, a New York law firm before joining Quest’s accounting team in 2014. Her experience includes financial, treasury and operations management, performance and risk management, mergers and acquisitions as well as board and regulatory relations.

Aston EyeTech, a U.K.-based developer and manufacturer of ophthalmic measurement technology, is launching
Eyoto, a new brand centered around its upcoming next generation eye diagnostic and measurement solutions. The company’s new lens inspection technology, which features the company’s device engineering expertise with advanced intelligent software systems, will be showcased at Vision Expo in March. Aston EyeTech recently completed a $6.7 million Series A investment round. Its Eyoto product portfolio, which will be launched progressively throughout 2018, includes a range of power mapping lensmeters and lens surface inspection tools, binocular autorefractors, and the company’s cloud connected mobile diagnostic platform, which integrates portable hardware, artificial intelligence (AI)-driven diagnostic systems and large-scale data analytics.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—IFB Solutions made optical history last month when the first-ever 3D ophthalmic lens manufacturing system, developed by the Dutch tech company Luxexcel, began production at its prescription laboratory here. Executives from IFB and Luxexcel unveiled the new technology and showcased it during a tour of IFB’s facilities in November.

Luxexcel, based here, has received an equity investment of €4 million ($4.7 million) from Innovation Industries, a Netherlands-based venture capital fund. Luxexcel said the investment will enable it to accelerate the next-gen development of its 3D printing platform for prescription lenses for use in augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) applications.
