Today’s optometry college graduates are such a diverse and impressive group of young people. It’s a reflection of the wide range of potential avenues and specialties afforded today’s students, who are just as dedicated as many of their predecessors, motivated by a strong sense of purpose in their involvement and future practice choices.

NEW YORK—Nearly 1,100 readers of NewGradOptometry.com (NGO) took part in a wide-ranging survey conducted last year and shared information and attitudes about where they practiced, what types of career paths they were considering, the pressure of student debt and their long-term practice ideals and interests.

This year’s Best in Class optometry students are as big-hearted as they are intelligent. Coming from different walks of life, they have lent their time to tutoring underclassmen, voluntarily organized Easter egg hunts, and even traveled to South America, all in hopes of helping those in need.
